DIVA Annual Fund Drive Underway. Your donations are important in helping to fund DIVA's mission as a center for the arts in downtown Eugene. In 2006, over 12,000 people visited our exhibits, attended our diverse time-based media arts events, and participated in our varied workshops and classes. In addition, we reached out to the community through our at-risk youth drop-in workshops and by hosting forums such as the Creative Conversations.
This year, we would like you to choose where you would like to direct your tax deductible donation dollars. There are four options:
- Our diverse and engaging exhibitions, which showcased the work of almost 200 local artists in 2006
- Our educational programs and outreach, which served 200 students in 2006
- Our exciting Media Arts Program, which brought over 150 film screenings and other time-based events to DIVA this year.
- A fourth option gives us discretion to use your dollars where it is most needed
This drive provides significant support for DIVA, and we sincerely hope you will participate this year. Be assured, the entire DIVA team of staff, board members, and volunteers will do its best to prove worthy of your support
Volunteers completed a 3,000 piece mass mailing this past week to raise funds for the DIVA Center. (Top Picture) Brian Walker, Daniel Heila, and Eric Ostlind. (Bottom Picture) Eric Ostlind, Becky Guy, Judy Alison, and Thomas Bennett-Stroud. Not shown, Halis, and Scott Huette, Gary Ferrington.

Painted Prints: The Revelation of Color. (Scout Report) Adapted from an exhibition shown at the Baltimore Museum of Art in 2002 and 2003, the online version of Painted Prints explores the use of color in Renaissance prints. The idea for the exhibition began in 1996, when curator Susan Dackerman first saw a 16th century Dutch print The Triumph of Patience, by Dirck Volkertsz Coornhert. The research project that led to the 2 exhibition is featured as a section of the Web site, where visitors can read about Dackerman's investigations, and see the results of conservator Thomas Primeau's analysis of the pigments used in the colored prints as well. Primeau used X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) to identify the pigments used to color a painted impression of Albrecht Dürer's print Christ Presented to the People from The Large Passion. On the Web site there is an interactive example where rolling over the image brings up details of the pigments and their chemical makeup. In addition, there are sections about the makers of the prints, their purpose, and a gallery of a dozen painted prints. Visit Site Online.
