UbuWeb has archived dozens of avant-garde films & videos for your viewing pleasure. However, it is important that you realize that what you will see is in no way comparable to the experience of seeing these gems as they were intended to be seen: in a dark room, on a large screen, with a good sound system and, most importantly, with a roomful of warm, like-minded bodies.
However, the real thing isn't very easy to access as most of us don't live anywhere near theatres that show this kind of fare and very few can afford the hefty rental fees, not to mention the cumbersome equipment, to show these films. Thankfully, there is the internet which allows you to get a sampling of these works regardless of your geographical location. Check out this site for classic avant-garde material including work by Jean Cocteau, Stan Brakhage, Ed Emshwiller and many others. Visit Site.

Pictures That Lie. The truthfulness of photographic images has always been questioned given the manipulation that can take place in the darkroom. Today, with digital photography and software, it is relatively simple to alter an image. This web site is a great resource of images that have been modified in someway so as to communicate messages other than that originally intended. C-Net has collected a numerous of doctored photos, from the recent, waifish Katie Couric to the dark and sinister OJ Simpson, to Iraq to Lebanon to some early 1900’s frauds.
