DIVA on ArtWalk. DIVA will be the first stop on this Friday's Art Walk, September 1st. Featured will be the First Annual All-Members Show. This year's theme is the "Edge Effect". In nature, the "Edge Effect" describes the activity that occurs where different ecosystems meet. DIVA is poised at the "edge" of a cultural change for downtown Eugene. DIVA Members were invited to submit works that illustrated, demonstrated or evoked, their own edge effects for exhibition. This exhibit illustrates the creative diversity of our Center's membership. First Friday ArtWalk hours 5:30 to 8:30PM.

DIVA Volunteer of the Month: Don Haugen has contributed of his time and creative effort to provide the Center with graphic support over the past two years. His poster design, flyer preparation, and graphics for web use have presented DIVA events to the public in a style that is both edgy and informative. Don has also contributed to the growth of performance events at the Center with having recently staged the Eugene Noise Festival and other several other musical events that have brought the Center press coverage and attention from as far away as the UK.
Don says about his volunteer work, "I started volunteering at DIVA because of the non-stop pestering of Carolezoom. She had harassed me for a year; finally I agreed to meet with her. She prompted me to attend a Media Arts Committee meeting; There I saw the dedication and ingenuity that this group possessed. Within this group, I have been fortunate to be a part some of the most compelling creative events in the Pacific North West. (Photo: Carolezoom)

The Vincent Van Gogh Gallery

Not many websites can claim a dispensation or official approval from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, but this site can claim just that. Created by David Brooks of Canada, this site contains not just some of Vincent van Gogh's oeuvre, but all of it. That’s an impressive amount of material, and it includes 874 letters, 133 letter sketches, and all 10 of his graphic works.
Visitors are most welcome to scroll through the homepage to find sections that contain all of the aforementioned material organized by subject matter, date of creation, and a smattering of works inspired by Van Gogh as well.
Brooks has also added a set of brief commentaries on Van Gogh's paintings and his own "InSites" into such classic pieces as "Orphan Man with Top Hat" and his 1887 "Self-Portrait". Visit Site. Source: Scout Report.
